Presented by BioOhio and BioOhio-member Hicks Partners, LLC, on 2/12/07 and 5/22/07, this workshop provided an overview of funding programs offered by the State of Ohio and Federal government aimed at supporting the research, development and commercialization activities of bioscience companies. Panelists included: Khisha Fallon of Senator George Voinovich’s office; Bob Clark of Congressman Dave Hobson’s office; Diane Wilkinson of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown's office; and Robert Mullen of U.S. Congressman Ralph Regula's office.

Ohio Bioscience Regulatory Forum

Held on May 26, 2004, a half-day seminar featuring FDA speaker Dan Schultz, MD, Acting Director for the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, who delivered his perspective on “The Changing World of Medical Devices” from the nation’s capitol.

Richard Schwen, PhD, senior regulatory consultant at PAREXEL International, discussed the “fast track” process for drug testing and approval, and other subjects of current interest; and Barbara Fant, PharmD, Clinical Research Consultants, talked about reducing risk by integrating clinical strategies throughout the medical device lifecycle.

Ohio Bioscience Statehouse Day

On May 11, 2004 Omeris Board members, bioscience executives, Senate and House Bioscience Caucus members and other state policymakers met for lunch and a look at the state of the Bioscience Industry in Ohio.

Ohio Bioscience & The Pharmaceutical Industry: A Partnership for Cures

David Brennan, AstraZeneca U.S. president and CEO, and Mark Heeson, president of the National Venture Capital Association, joined Ohio bioscience, pharmaceutical, and investment firm executives in a discussion of industry issues and Ohio's emergence as a bioscience leader. The 2-hour program was held September 4, 2003 at the Adam's Mark, Columbus.
