BioOhio is a non-profit membership organization that represents over 300 members that employ over 100,000 Ohioans – from Ohio’s largest employers to emerging start-ups, schools & universities, research institutions, students, and individuals.
BioOhio was founded in 1987 with support from founding members Battelle, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, P&G, University Hospitals, and University of Cincinnati.
BioOhio is a proud member of the Council of State Bioscience Associations, a confederation of state-based, independent, non-profit trade organizations. BioOhio is the state affiliate of BIO, AdvaMed, MDMA, and PhRMA, national organizations working to support the bioscience industry.
BioOhio connects and serves Ohio’s bioscience community to drive success in improving global quality of life.

BioOhio hosts numerous events throughout the year and around the state, including our Annual Conference, Women in Bioscience Conference, scientific showcases, business innovations and investor forums, career fairs, professional development opportunities, and informal networking events.

Advocacy – Local, State & Federal Government Relations
BioOhio works with local, state, and federal agencies, officials and representatives to promote Ohio’s bioscience industry. Members can engage in government relations through the BioOhio Advocacy & Public Policy Committee and legislative-focused events such as BioOhio Statehouse Day, Federal Legislative Fly-ins, and roundtables with public officials.
BioOhio collaborates in government engagement with our national partners as the Ohio affiliate of Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), Medical Device and Manufacturing Association (MDMA), and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). BioOhio delivers a competitive advantage to members with solutions to talent, training and human resources needs through partnerships with Taylor Strategy Partners, Sequent, and the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE).
