BioOhio is a non-profit membership organization that represents nearly 300 members that employ over 100,000 Ohioans – from Ohio’s largest employers to emerging start-ups, schools & universities, research institutions, students, and individuals.
BioOhio was founded in 1987 with support from founding members Battelle, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, P&G, University Hospitals, and University of Cincinnati.
BioOhio is a proud member of the Council of State Bioscience Associations, a confederation of state-based, independent, non-profit trade organizations. BioOhio is the state affiliate of BIO, AdvaMed, MDMA, and PhRMA, national organizations working to support the bioscience industry.

Exclusively available to members, BioOhio savings programs save Ohio bioscience organizations millions of dollars every year. BioOhio hosts many events throughout the year that provide exceptional networking and partnership building opportunities in addition to knowledgeable and influential industry speakers, including the BioOhio Patient Summit, Diversity in Bioscience & Healthcare Series, FDA MedTech Regulatory Forum, socials, career fairs, legislative events, and webinars.
Membership benefits include discounted admission to our events and to many of our partner events. We also have a networking group on LinkedIn where our members discover powerful new business contacts, keep in touch with one another, and stay informed of current news. BioOhio provides business development assistance through facilitating introductions that benefit your business or accelerate your career.
Advocacy – Local, State & Federal Government Relations
BioOhio works with local, state, and federal agencies, officials and representatives to promote Ohio’s bioscience industry. Members can engage in government relations through the BioOhio Advocacy & Public Policy Committee and legislative-focused events such as BioOhio Statehouse Day, Federal Legislative Fly-ins, and roundtables with public officials.
BioOhio collaborates in government engagement with our national partners as the Ohio affiliate of Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), Medical Device and Manufacturing Association (MDMA), and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). BioOhio’s local partners in government relations are G2G Consulting and The Credo Company.
BioOhio delivers a competitive advantage to members with solutions to talent, training and human resources needs through partnerships with Taylor Strategy Partners and the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE).
Member companies receive assistance connecting with resources to locate talent, including entry level employees, highly skilled workers, and executives. Resources often include access to job pools, training, recruiting, and talent sourcing.
Programs such as comprehensive talent needs assessments and sourcing, specialized training for skilled and leadership positions alike, and courses and certification programs for the advancement of professional medtech, pharma and bioscience development are all offered at a discount to BioOhio members.
Ohio’s Bioscience Community: Industry Intelligence and Visibility
BioOhio provides members with valuable industry information and a venue for increased awareness and visibility.
BioOhio has long been a go-to source for data on the bioscience industry in our state. Data includes statewide and regional analysis of bioscience employment, wages, new company growth, acquisitions, private investment, research funding, bioscience related graduation rates, and much more. While much of this data is summarized and published in The Ohio Bioscience Report, BioOhio members have access to additional details and materials not otherwise released.
News from members receives special highlights among industry stories on BioOhio.com and is often featured in blog posts, tweets and other social media outlets. Members also receive visibility in BioOhio publications that include The Ohio Bioscience Report, the Ohio Bioscience Directory, member list, newsletters, and other materials. Members have the opportunity to speak at, volunteer at, or host events at their facilities as well as be visible through contributions to policy letters and reports.
