Athens Ohio was alive and the excitement was contagious as the “Industry’s Who’s Who” met at the Ohio Bioscience Networking Social at Athens Uncorked presented by BioOhio! Guests mixed and mingled amongst friends, both old and new, on an absolutely beautiful Monday evening.
Through the generous support of member companies Stirling Ultracold and ACS Publications, guests toasted the end of summer, saluted the start of another school year, and said cheers to celebrate the many recent successes of the region’s companies and institutions.
Successes include the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) awarding Ohio University’s Innovation Center the 2019 Rural-Based Entrepreneurial Center of the Year and the Randall M Whaley Incubator of the Year Award, InBIA’s highest honor. In addition to these physical awards and trophies, Ohio University Innovation Center was awarded a grant in the amount of $1.15M from the U.S. Department of Commerce. These funds will be used in upgrading the Innovation Center with the expectation of attracting an eventual $20M in private investments and the creation of an additional 100 jobs.
