BioOhio proudly hosted our 13th annual Ohio Bioscience Career Fairs in central and southwest Ohio on February 25 & 26.
Over a dozen Ohio bioscience companies, collectively seeking to fill over 160 positions, joined us to meet with several hundred job seekers.
The BioOhio team was especially glad to hear hiring companies were consistently pleased with the quality of candidates they met. Likewise, job seekers said the companies were fascinating, and informative about available opportunities.
Exhibitors included: Advanced Testing Laboratory, Aerotek, Allergan, American Regent, AtriCure, Charles River, Clarigent Health, Eccrine Systems, Medpace, Myriad Neuroscience, Nationwide Children’s, and UES. BioEnterprise, our partner in northeast Ohio, joined us representing six Cleveland area companies.
Job seekers included experienced bioscience professionals alongside students in various bioscience-related programs from Case Western Reserve University, Denison University, Miami University, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, Sinclair College, University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, The University of Toledo, Wright State University, Xavier University, and other schools around Ohio.
“We met great candidates. The BioOhio event had specialized scientific candidates for some of our hard-to-fill openings in research. It was much more effective than the general job fairs that we attend throughout the year.” – Patrick Kennedy, Human Resources, Nationwide Children’s Hospital (2/2019)
“I attended the BioOhio career fair as a graduating senior in 2015. My goal was to find a job that combined my love of science with a passion for business. After meeting several pharmaceutical companies, I found exactly what I was looking for. I have been happily employed with Allergan ever since!” – Julie Morey, Associate Operations Analyst, Allergan (2/2019)
Our hosts, The City of Mason and Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Bioscience Program, both BioOhio member organizations, proved once again to be incredible community partners.
In southwest Ohio, The City of Mason opened up the beautiful Mason Municipal Center for the event. The City of Mason is a long-time supporter of the bioscience industry, with many rapidly growing Ohio companies based in the city. One such company is AtriCure, which hosted a BioOhio networking social later in the day. Read a wrap-up of that event here.
In central Ohio, EFCTS welcomed us into their school in Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus. Faculty and students from the bioscience program volunteered at the event to assist job seekers and company representatives. Tours of the high tech bioscience classroom and lab space were given to companies during the event.
Each year the career fairs are exciting, rewarding events that should not be missed. Thank you to all of the companies that participated and job seekers that attended. We hope you all found new opportunities.
