Upcoming Advocacy Events

Throughout BioOhio’s 30+ year history, the organization has worked with local, state and federal agencies, officials and representatives to promote Ohio’s bioscience industry, BioOhio members, and the health and prosperity of Ohio.

BioOhio presents multiple advocacy and government relations events throughout the year to keep the Ohio bioscience community informed about the issues that matter to them. Below are the upcoming events in 2020.

Public Policy Calls

We will discuss the federal and state legislation affecting the bioscience community and our work on these issues. There will be ample time for an open dialogue for callers to share issues affecting their organization.

G2G’s Monthly GBG Report Highlights Call

Every third Friday of the month, G2G hosts this monthly GBG Report Highlights call to give bioscience and high-tech companies the opportunity to learn about non-dilutive funding opportunities that could help grow your company and to stay up-to-date on current, upcoming and new non-dilutive federal government funding sources.

BIO Fly-In

Once a year, BioOhio partner BIO hosts the Legislative Day Fly-In, inviting biotechnology executives from across the country to come to Washington D.C. for a day and a half of legislative briefings and advocacy. We are looking forward to another great day of engaging with Members of Congress – and their senior staff – on the most important legislative policy issues facing the biotechnology industry. The 2020 BIO Legislative Day Fly-In is a free event hosted by BIO/BioOhio as a benefit of membership. Registration and attendance at the BIO 2020 Fly-In will be by invitation only. If you would like to participate, please contact bioohio@bioohio.com.

PhRMA – BioOhio Legislative Luncheon

BioOhio partner PhRMA and BioOhio host a legislative luncheon annually to eduate Ohio lawmakers on the value of the bioscience industry. This year’s keynote speaker Aaron Vandervelde, Managing Director of the Berkeley Research Group (BRG), will present on the new research on the supply chain’s impact on drug spending. According to a new BRG analysis, nearly 50% of total spending on brand medicines – the sum of all payments made at the pharmacy or paid on a claim to a health care provider – went to the supply chain and other entities in 2018. Registration and attendance at the Legislative Luncheon will be by invitation only. If you would like to participate, please contact bioohio@bioohio.com.

Public Policy End of the Year Networking Event

Join us at our annual end-of-year, casual get-together for BioOhio public policy committee members, government relations professionals, BioOhio members, and interested members of the bioscience community. We will discuss the federal and state legislation affecting the bioscience community, our work on these issues, and our plans for 2021 public policy.

AdvaMed Fly-In

Once a year, BioOhio partner AdvaMed hosts the Legislative Day Fly-in where BioOhio advocates for the medical device and diagnostic segment of the industry.
