August 23 in Cleveland
The first Diversity in Bio Breakfast took place August 23 at Matrix Medical Devices in Mayfield Heights. The featured speaker Carolyn Odom, Director, Program Management, Abeona Therapeutics, discussed nontraditional pathways into bioscience/healthcare and the role that mentors played throughout her career.

September 24 in Cincinnati/Mason
The second Diversity in Bio Breakfast took place September 24 at AtriCure in Mason. The featured speaker Brooke Cartus with ImprovEdge led a discussion where participants engaged in a series of exercises to shed light on bias and explore ways to solve the problem of bias in the workplace. By identifying the role of cognitive bias in our decision making, we can change the way we behave, lead teams, and collaborate as an organization.
November 20 in Columbus
BioOhio’s third Diversity in Bioscience & Healthcare event took place Wednesday, November 20 at Battelle in Columbus. Attendees enjoyed a keynote conversation with a team from Battelle who discussed the future of healthcare and how the future is shaping today’s research, with a theme of diversity woven in throughout the discussion. Attendees also enjoyed networking with refreshments and a fun and interactive session facilitated by ImprovEdge.
