Women in Bioscience - 2017 Events
Since 2015, BioOhio has hosted two full-day Women in Bioscience Conferences, and two half-day workshops, featuring speakers covering topics such as career paths, mentoring, networking, communication strategies, and success stories.
BioOhio’s goal in holding these events is to highlight numerous bioscience career options, for scientific and non-scientific jobs, along with practical concepts to advance women in the bioscience industry.
The half-day workshop agendas featured a session titled “Personal Branding: Focusing on your Leadership Strengths.” Attendees identified how to be an effective leader knowing their own strengths and investing in others’ as well. A panel discussion followed featuring women who discussed how they’ve accomplished this and how it has driven their careers and goals.
The full-day conference agendas featured speakers discussing topics such as executive presence and board representation, social media, starting a business, transforming technical talks, and negotiation.
To continue this mission, BioOhio is hosting a series of breakfast workshops around the state in 2017. The goal is to highlight topics that will provide tools needed to advance into leadership positions.
