Kurome Therapeutics is looking for a Research Associate to support our preclinical drug development efforts in cancer biology and signal transduction.  The Research Associate is expected to execute experimental strategies to support drug discovery programs and development of biomarkers in collaboration with the Scientist and Chief Scientific Officer.  Applicants should have at least 1-3 years of laboratory research experience and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role with a high level of experimental vigor and quality.  Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to work independently are essential as the Research Associate is expected to operate in a fast-paced multi-discipline environment, interacting with diverse groups of experts within as well as outside of their scientific discipline. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize and conduct multiple research activities and possess a broad range of technical experience and familiarity with laboratory protocols in cancer biology and/or signal transduction. The position is located in Cincinnati, OH.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Optimization, validation, and performance of cell-based and molecular assays to support small molecule drug discovery and biomarker activities.
  • Independently plan and conduct a variety of laboratory-based experiments.
  • Analyze results and present to senior staff or others.
  • Write reports and maintain documents/records.
  • Database management to support data integration between multiple formats/users
  • Monitor progress of animal experiments performed at external sites and in Core facility
  • Ability to plan and organize work in accordance with the overall objectives and required timelines.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • A Bachelors or Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, and/or cancer biology with a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Hands-on experience in aseptic and cell culture techniques, and maintenance of mammalian cell cultures.
  • Familiarity with cell and molecular biological techniques, such as RT-PCR, immunoblotting, and flow cytometry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with xenograft models and animal handling procedures is desired.
  • Working knowledge of biological laboratory safety precautions and protocols.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide timely and open feedback.
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.

Salary commensurate with experience.
