Haima Therapeutics is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company located in Cleveland, OH focused on developing platelet-inspired therapies to provide therapy for multiple indications including hemorrhage, inflammation, thrombosis, and cancer. Our lead product, is a synthetic intravenous hemostatic technology, called SynthoPlate, that can staunch bleeding by amplifying your body’s natural clotting mechanisms.

Haima is seeking to hire a highly-motivated Scientist to support fast-paced research and development of artificial cell therapies. This person will be responsible for planning translational drug development experiments, and carrying out NIH, NSF, and DoD funded projects using biochemistry, molecular biology and polymer science techniques. We are looking for individuals with experience in hemostasis, thrombosis, inflammation, or cell signaling that have worked with various animal models. Additional experience with nanotechnologies, performing large animal studies, writing proposals, and managing a team of researchers is a plus. This is a full-time position within the company. This is an exciting opportunity to join an early stage biotechnology drug development startup company at the ground floor and grow with the company. There will be opportunities to grow with the company as the company progresses through the commercialization pathway. The position will require relocation to Cleveland, OH. Pay commensurate with experience. Equity supplementation may also be available.

The primary responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manufacture nanoparticles using bioconjugate chemistry, molecular self-assembly and purification techniques
  • Characterize the physiochemical and functional properties of Haima’s drug technologies using standard and specialized techniques
  • Perform safety and efficacy evaluation in appropriate in vitro and in vivo models
  • Work with and manage a team of junior level scientists
  • Design, supervise and interpret quality control equipment, techniques and protocols
  • Keep accurate laboratory notebook records and work with Haima’s quality management system

 Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • PhD in biochemistry, biomedical engineering or any related engineering, science, or medical majors
  • Understanding of hemostasis, thrombosis, PK/PD pharmacology, and toxicity
  • Understanding of platelet biology
  • Nanotechnology experience is a plus
  • Hands on in vivo technical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and master new skills quickly
  • Proven management skills
  • We are looking for scientists with 0-10 years post graduate experience
