Kurome Therapeutics is looking for a Scientist/Senior Scientist to lead our preclinical drug development efforts in the area of cancer biology and signal transduction.  The Senior Scientist is expected to independently conceive and execute experimental strategies to lead/support drug discovery programs, and to develop translational plans in collaboration with the Chief Scientific Officer.  Applicants should have extensive laboratory research experience and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role with a high level of experimental vigor and quality. Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills are essential as the Senior Scientist is expected to operate in a fast-paced multi-discipline environment, interacting with diverse groups of experts within as well as outside of their scientific discipline. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize and manage multiple research activities and possess a broad range of technical expertise and knowledge in cancer biology or signal transduction. The position is in Cincinnati, OH.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Development, optimization, validation, and performance of cell-based assays to support small molecule drug discovery activities
  • Discovery and prioritization of disease stratification and target engagement biomarker candidates relevant to the pipeline
  • Develop, implement, and execute a therapeutic biomarker discovery strategy across several programs
  • Generate and transition key pharmacodynamic and patient stratification/selection biomarker discovery data in support of clinical biomarker assay and companion diagnostic test development
  • Initial development, optimization, and validation of biomarker tests to support companion diagnostic development
  • Design and coordination of all in vivo model activities with external collaborators
  • Database management to support data integration between multiple formats/users
  • Anticipation and critical evaluation of scientific or regulatory advances and/or competitive threats and respond with appropriate new strategies in internal and external presentations.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • A Ph.D. with a minimum of three years relevant work experience or a BS/MS degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in molecular biology/ immunology/ cancer biology.
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations.
  • Proven team leadership experience and the ability to lead, coach and mentor in a matrixed organization.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and scientifically driven, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Familiarity with the use of bioinformatics tools and applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability of providing timely and open feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to present experimental data to diverse audiences such as project teams and executive boards
  • Ability to work to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency

Salary commensurate with experience.
