FDA approves Amylin’s Bydureon

Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Alkermes announced Friday that the FDA has approved Bydureon (exenatide extended-release for injectable suspension) – the first once-weekly treatment for type 2 diabetes. The drug will be available in pharmacies nationwide in February. Bydureon, which had previously received marketing authorization in the European Union, is produced at Amylin’s West Chester, Ohio, facility.
