The Ohio University Innovation Center will celebrate the grand opening of its new Biotechnology Research and Development Facility with an open house on Wednesday, June 29, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The new facility offers state-of-the-art instrumentation and research equipment for chemical and biomedical analysis. The facility is available for use by Ohio University faculty, staff and students, Innovation Center clients, researchers at area colleges and universities and private industry.

The Innovation Center received funding from the university and the state of Ohio’s Edison Incubator program to establish the facility, designed to support the growing community of biotechnology researchers at OU and in the southeastern Ohio region.

The Innovation Center currently is home to two biotechnology companies, Interthyr and MetalloPharm, and has one affiliate member, Promiliad Biopharma. Diagnostic Hybrids (now a Quidel Company) is a graduate of the program.

The Innovation Center is located at 340 W. State St., Athens. For more information about the Biotechnology Research and Development Facility, visit
