Senator Rob Portman honored with the 2018 Champion of Health Care Innovation Award

June 7, 2018

BioOhio joined with the American Life Sciences Innovation Council to honor Ohio Senator Rob Portman with the 2018 Champion of Health Care Innovation Award.

This award recognizes the Senator’s efforts in Congress and in Ohio to protect and nurture important policies that position America as the world’s leading force in innovative life sciences. In particular, the award calls out Senator Portman’s consistent work to secure predictable Medicare reimbursement rates, a culture that fosters investment in risk-intensive areas of research, strong intellectual property protection for medical discoveries and an effective regulatory environment for medicine and life sciences.

When government leaders support innovation, it helps ensure patients have access to advanced treatments and new generations of medical therapies. Ohio organizations who joined with the award include Ohio State Grange, Cancer Support Community of Central Ohio, BioOhio, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Ohio, and Susan G. Komen Columbus.
