That’s from a Cleveland Plain Dealer article quoting Ohio State University College of Medicine Dean Charles J. Lockwood. Yesterday, representatives of Ohio medical schools met with NIH Francis S. Collins and eight Ohio members of Congress to discuss directing more rsearch funding to the state’s biomedical sector.

When NIH research dollars are tight, Lockwood said Ohio institutions lose researchers to universities with big endowments, like Yale, who can offer better recruitment packages for top scientists.

Legislators attending were Sen. Sherrod Brown, Rep. Marcia Fudge, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Rep. Steve LaTourette, Rep. Bob Latta, Rep. Jim Renacci, Rep. Tim Ryan, and Rep. Patrick Tiberi.
